U-6 AND U-7 MICROSOCCER $100
Start Date – End Date
Microsoccer begins on Saturday September 11th and runs for 8 weeks. The last day of Microsoccer will be Saturday, October 30th. In the past we have run Microsoccer as a seven week clinic. This year, we are running it as an eight week clinic as Yom Kippur takes place on the 18th of September. MIYSC will still hold Microsoccer on that day, but for those that will not be there, they will still get to have seven weeks of Microsoccer with the additional week added. There was no additional cost for the 8th week that we added to the season.
Field Location
Microsoccer takes places at the Lower Mercer Island High School Fields. To get to the fields, park in the Youth Theatre parking lot next to Mary Wayte Pool. There is a path from the parking lot that takes you to the fields.

Mark your calendar, picture day will be on September 11th (First day of Microsoccer!) more details will follow with exact times the week before pictures.
What To Wear
Each player will receive a Microsoccer t-shirt the first day of Microsoccer. In addition to the Microsoccer t-shirt, players need to have shin guards, cleats or tennis shoes, comfortable shorts or pants. Dress according to the weather.
What To Bring To Each Clinic
Each player needs to bring their OWN #3 size soccer ball. (Make sure that it is a #3 size!) Also each player should be bringing a water bottle. It is important to label your soccer ball and water bottle so as not to get confused with other players.
Microsoccer Program Recap
We are excited to announce changes to the Micro Program this Fall that we believe will improve the program and your kids’ soccer experience. The goal of Micro Soccer is to introduce kids (and their parents) to soccer in a fun, safe environment. The changes we are making reflect the improvements that WYSA (Washington Youth Soccer Association) has made and several other programs have made with great success. Here are the highlights of the new program:
Age appropriate skills and activities with a greater awareness of age-group characteristics
Constant motion (less waiting in lines!), allowing for more time for each player with the soccer ball
More fun, using games to make the training programs more fun to foster a love for the game.
We are working with an A licensed soccer coach, (the highest national coaching rating) who has also worked with other neighboring programs, to design the new Mercer Island Micro program.
The approach we will be taking each week is to focus on coordination during warm up’s and then progressing week to week through skill development including dribbling, ball control, individual / small group game understanding, passing, turning and finally shooting. We will finish each weekly session with small sided scrimmages / games. We will not be having formal teams as we have done in the past and instead we will be dividing the kids into skill level groups to allow each child to develop by playing with children at a similar skill level. We hope this will make for an improved experience for both the beginning player as well as the player who is more advanced. The professional trainers will help divide the kids into groups and then make adjustments as we go through the season.
As a result, we will not have the traditional parent coaches we have had in the past, but we will need your help even more by working as “trainers” along with each of the professional trainers to facilitate the weekly skill programs and help make it a success.

We realize this is a new approach for Mercer Island Micro soccer and as a result there will be a few bumps in the road as we go, but we ask for your patience, support and feedback as we strive to improve the program for your kids and develop even more lifelong soccer players! Enjoy the summer and I look forward to seeing you and your kids this Fall on the field Saturdays from September 11 - October 30!
